About Jim's Guide Service of Maine
My wife and I have lived
in Willimantic for the past twelve years operating a small
hunting service in the fall. A lot of time was spent on lodging
and food for my hunters. This spring I retired (from
construction)to become a full time professional hunter. We have
decided to give up the outfitting part of our guide service
(meals and lodging) concentrating on providing the best
possible hunt available. To provide this service I will guide a
maximum of four hunters per week, but prefer two. In the last
nine years of guiding I have found too many hunters in camp,
though very good for the guides pocket can distract or ruin a
hunt for others. The area I hunt is the highlands of Maine,
centrally located in prime hunting country. Most of my hunting
is done on paper company land - about one hundred thousand
acres of it, but I have access to over seven thousand acres of
private land. Some of this land has not been hunted for ten
years. Bear and archery hunters will not see another hunter. I
am the only guide hunting this area. I have a great respect for
the land and the animals we hunt. It is my wish that the people
I guide feel the same way. My first concern is always the
safety of my hunters, secondly I want you to have the best hunt
of your life and will do everything in my power to make it
happen.............GOOD HUNTING, JIM
