  • About Us - My wife and I have lived in Willimantic for the past twelve years operating a small hunting service in the fall. A lot of time was spent on lodging and food for my hunters. This spring I retired (from construction)to become a full time professional hunter. We have decided to give up the outfitting part of our guide service (meals and lodging) concentrating on providing the best possible hunt available. To provide this service I will guide a maximum of four hunters per week, but prefer two. In the last nine years of guiding I have found too many hunters in camp, though very good for the guides pocket can distract or ruin a hunt for others. The area I hunt is the highlands of Maine, centrally located in prime hunting country. Most of my hunting is done on paper company land - about one hundred thousand acres of it, but I have access to over seven thousand acres of private land. Some of this land has not been hunted for ten years. Bear and archery hunters will not see another hunter. I am the only guide hunting this area. I have a great respect for the land and the animals we hunt. It is my wish that the people I guide feel the same way. My first concern is always the safety of my hunters, secondly I want you to have the best hunt of your life and will do everything in my power to make it happen.............GOOD HUNTING, JIM

  • Black Bear Hunting in Maine...Bear hunting over bait is our specialty. Here in the highlands of Maine we have a lot of bear because of very low hunting pressure and a lot of natural food. If you follow our suggestions you will have a fifty per cent chance of seeing a bear. A typical day of hunting starts around 1:00 P.M. I take you to your blind and bait at the same time. My bait is a blend of fresh pastries, grain, protein supplements, greens, and molasses. I add other things but that is my secret. All of the scents I use I make myself. Bears not only love to eat this bait, it fulfills all their nutritional needs. I have found that if you do not provide the necessary diet and only bait with pastries the bear will leave for several days to eat what they need. This bait puts a lot of weight on the bear quickly. The reason I use ground blinds is for safety and I do not know of any tree stands you can sit in for six to seven hours and be comfortable enough to be QUIET and STILL - an essential part of bear hunting. Much better shot placement is achieved from a ground blind. We hunt until one-half hour after sunset. I pick you up about one-half hour after that. Laws and licenses for bear hunting can be obtained at www.maine.gov/ifw. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me.

  • Maine Moose Hunts - I guide in areas 8 and 14, usually the second week in October. My scouting for moose starts in the middle of August. In 2 months I can pattern the moose you are looking for(usually a big bull). Arriving very early in the morning, or sometimes the night before because in Maine if you are there first you get to hunt that area. I always have several backup s just in case. We will set up depending on what you are shooting. I spend the entire time with you. We break for lunch around 11:00 A.M. and then back in hunting position for the rest of the day. Success rate is 100%.

  • Piscataquis County was incorporated in 1838, taken from parts of adjacent Penobscot and Somerset counties. It is located at the geographic center of Maine. Originally it extended north to the Canadian border, but in 1844 its northern portion was annexed by Aroostook County. In land area, Piscataquis is one of the largest U.S. counties east of the Mississippi River.
